Aftermath of Titli: Nuapada-Gunupur Railway Section Damaged

Bhubaneswar: The severe cyclonic storm Titli that hit West-Central Bay of Bengal on Thursday has caused damage to the Nuapada-Gunupur railway section of Waltair division. The storm uprooted several huge trees and flash floods led to the railway infrastructure getting washed out in the section.

Rainwater has washed up around half-a-kilometer of the rail track. The station buildings at Parlakhemundi, Pathapatnam, Naupada have been completely damaged, along with many signal poles and station equipment.

Railways have engaged more than 300 people from the Railway Teams Work-Force including track specialists, bridge engineers, signal & telecom engineers along with four heavy-duty proclainers to restore the damages at the earliest. The damage is estimated to be worth around Rs 3.5 crore.

The team has already restored 300 metres of the rail track and it is estimated that all the restoration work will be completed by October 21.
