Alarnath Temple In Brahmagiri Flooded

Puri: Devotees had a harrowing time wading through knee-deep water at Alarnath Temple in Brahmagiri of Puri district on Monday.

The temple was inundated following incessant rain over the past three days.

According to sources, the temple administration have been trying to drain out the water with the help of a pump since early morning.

Devotees throng the temple for darshan of Lord Alarnath during the 15-day Anasara period of the sibling deities of Jagannath Temple in Puri following Snana Purnima. Kheeri (rice porridge) prepared in the temple as an offering to the deity is immensely popular among visitors.

Incessant rain has also triggered a flood-like situation at many places in Brahmagiri, including the national highway. Water also entered the Nuagaon Community Health Centre and the block office premises.

There have been reports of waterlogging and bridge collapse at different parts of Odisha following heavy rainfall since last evening. Temporary roads and weak bridges have collapsed at different places across the state.
