Anti-Maoist Posters Found In Malkangiri

Malkangiri: Anti-Maoist posters, condemning violence, were found in various parts of Mahupadar village under Mathili police limits in Malkangiri district on Wednesday.

The posters, signed by Hinsa Mukta Abhijan, made an appeal to the Maoists to shun violence and join the social mainstream by giving up arms.

Accusing the rebels of being the agents of anti-development, the posters condemned the killing of innocent people by branding them as police informers.

On May 15, a group of 10-20 armed Maoists had killed one Jagdish Somrath by slitting his throat at Temurapalli village under Mathili police limits in the district on suspicion of being a police informer.

Similar posters, opposing Maoist activities, were also spotted in various parts of Kalyansinghpur in Rayagada district on May 20.

The posters, issued by Adivasi Ekta Samiti, were found pasted at the walls of Kalyansinghpur High School and Jagannath temple.

Through posters, the organisation had condemned the violent activities of Maoists and urged them to stop terrorising people and killing dalits, women and youths in the tribal-dominated areas, including Niyamgiri.
