Create Awareness Among Farmers To Protect Crops: Minister To Collectors

Bhubaneswar: Keeping in view the rain forecast in state from December
7, Revenue Minister Maheswar Mohanty on Monday asked the collectors of
18 districts to advise the farmers to shift their harvested crops to
safer places to avoid loss.

Chairing an emergency meeting here, the Minister directed the
collectors of all the districts input subsidy to farmers by December
15. He highlighted that a sum of Rs 62 crore has so far been
transferred to farmers’ bank accounts online.

The meeting was attended by Special Relief Commissioner (SRC)
Bishnupada Sethi and Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre Director Sarat
Sahu.

According to Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, the well-marked low
pressure is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm on December 7.
Under its influence, Malkangiri, Koraput, Ganjam and Gajapati
districts may experience rainfall. High-intensity rainfall is expected
to occur in coastal and adjoining districts on December 8 and 9.
