Dama Drops Another Bombshell, Says 3 Jawans Raped Kunduli Minor Girl

Bhubaneswar: Expelled BJD leader Damodar Rout on Tuesday dropped another bombshell by making a shocking revelation about the much-talked-about gang rape of a 14-year-old girl of Musaguda village in Odisha’s Koraput district on October 10 last year.

Talking to mediapersons here, he said the victim had told the media that she was gang-raped by three security personnel. Even the chairperson of the BJD Scheduled Caste Cell had also told the same.

“However, the case was diluted to bail out a non-Odia personnel who was one of the accused in the case. During the preliminary investigation, semen was found on the clothes of the victim worn at the time of the incident. However, the police, in a bid to cover up the case, sent another clothe of the victim for the test and later claimed that there was no evidence of rape. Do such things happen anywhere except Odisha?” Dama asked.

On October 10, the Class IX student of Government Welfare School at Sorisapadar, had gone to Kunduli market to obtain a document and a few passport size photographs. On her way back, she was allegedly gang-raped by a group of men in uniform inside Lanjiguda forest.

The girl later managed to reach home and narrated the ordeal to her mother. She was admitted to a hospital in Kunduli and later shifted to Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput after her condition deteriorated.

The incident had sparked statewide public outcry. Demanding arrest of the accused, the Koraput District Congress Committee had observed Koraput bandh on October 16.

Three-and-half months after the incident, the victim committed suicide in her house on January 22 this year.
