Dengue Scare: 10 More Test Positive In Odisha’s Kalahandi

Kalahandi: Dengue is spreading its wings in many villages of Odisha’s Kalahandi district with more cases pouring in with every passing day.

Ten persons tested positive for the vector-borne disease on Tuesday, taking the number of those affected in Kalahandi district to 54. The disease is now spread to Ladugaon, Ainli, Orama and Phupgaon villages.

Another 59 blood samples have been sent for tests and the report is expected by Wednesday.

Till Monday, 218 blood samples were tested for dengue and 44 found to be positive.

The district administration has been taking steps to eliminate mosquito larvae through spraying and fogging. Awareness drive on the importance of maintaining a clean environment and getting rid of stagnated water is also being conducted.

The district Collector, CDMO and a team of district administration are visiting the affected villages to create awareness and verify the sanitation.

As the situation went out of control, a team of NAC reached Ladugaon village for a cleanliness and sanitation drive.

Local MLA is personally supervising the situation. A medical camp has also been set up at Ladugaon village.

Most patients have gone to Visakhapatnam on their own accord for treatment, while others are admitted to hospitals in Raipur, Hyderabad and Chhattisgarh.

 According to official sources, a team of doctors have been collecting the blood samples, which are being sent to Kalahandi and Balangir hospitals for the tests.
