Depression Over Bay Of Bengal To Trigger More Rain In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more rainfall in most parts of Odisha for the next five days.

According to a release by the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, the low pressure formed over the north-west Bay of Bengal on Sunday is gradually intensifying into a depression.

Under its influence, there would be widespread rainfall in the coastal, north coastal and interior districts.

The Met department has sounded heavy to very heavy rainfall alert in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Balangir, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri and Koraput districts.

There will be no change in the weather condition in the state till July 13, it said.

Barring Chandbali, rainfall was recorded in almost all areas in the state on Sunday with Sambalpur recording the highest of 45.2 mm followed by 41.2 mm in Paradip.

As estimated by the IMD, there has been a 28 percent deficit rainfall in Odisha in June and 30 percent deficit till the first week of July.
