Fake Note Racket Busted In Kalahandi, Two Held

Dharmagarh: The police on Friday busted a fake currency note racket with the arrest of two persons at Dharmagarh in Kalahandi district.

Fake notes worth Rs 17, 000 in the denomination of Rs 500 were seized from their possession.

During interrogation, the duo identified as Kulamani Nayak of Gadijora village and Rajendra Bhoi hailing from Kutru village in the district, told the cops that they used to make photocopies of original notes, prepare fake currency notes from them and circulate the same in the market.

According to police sources, the two had gone to a nearby weekly market to purchase some items in exchange for fake notes. Moments later, Dhaniram Nayak of Tipiguda village found the notes to be counterfeit and informed the police.

Efforts are on by the police to nab other people involved in the racket.
