SC/ST Conclave In Bhubaneswar Tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: A first-of-its-kind SC/ST conclave-cum-exhibition will be organized by National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) at Mancheswar Industrial Estate on Thursday.

Central public sector enterprises (CPSUs), banks, industry associations and various other agencies of Central & state governments will participate in the event.

“The event aims to share information on items / services that they could procure from SC/ST MSEs, create awareness about schemes like MUDRA, Stand-up India and CGTMSE and various other benefits for capacity building of young men and women from SC/ST community,” informed general manager, NSIC, PC Patnaik.

National SC/ST Hub (NSSH) Scheme of Ministry of MSME, Government of India , was launched in 2016 by Prime Minster Narendra Modi with an objective to create a supportive ecosystem for entrepreneurs belonging to these communities by assisting in capacity building, thereby enabling them to effectively participate in public procurement processes. The Ministry had also launched a portal  “MSME Sambandh” in December last  to monitor procurement by CPSUs and also share list of required products/services with MSEs.

 

 

NSIC has built its largest office building in eastern India, 3-star GRIHA rated green buildings (G+7 storied) in the eastern part of India having a built up area of approx. 1,10,000 sq.ft. at Mancheswar Industrial area here. This building will be inaugurated during the event. It will be having offices of various agencies like NSDC, NSTI and others which will be working with NSIC for providing integrated support to various MSMEs including from SC/ST community. It will also have NSIC’s National SC-ST Hub Office (NSSHO).

 

The state has been providing skilled manpower to leading textile clusters in India such as Tirupur, Tamil Nadu. NSIC’s apparel training centre for textile sector in the IMDC building will also be inaugurated wherein training will be imparted to men and women as a part of the handholding for creating employment and self-employment opportunities in Odisha.

An MOU between NSIC, Rourkela Steel Plant and National Schedule Tribe Finance Development Corporation will be signed for setting up of Livelihood Business Incubator at Rourkela for transforming the tribal youth from “unemployed” to “self-employed” in different trades, thus creating more job opportunities in Odisha.

NSIC will be signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SAP to create future ready workforce through providing access to the knowledge of innovative enterprise IT solutions.

Around 1500 SC/ST entrepreneurs and youth are expected to participate in the conclave.
