Gangster Tito’s Arrest: CB Team Leaves For Kolkata To Probe Links, Assets

Bhubaneswar: A team of Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch left for Kolkata on Sunday to obtain information regarding gangster Tito alias Syed Usman Ali’s alleged links and properties in the city.

The move followed information about properties, including land, house and vehicle, owned by the gangster in Kolkata.

Meanwhile, the five-day remand of Tito ended today.

On Saturday, the Crime Branch had seized several bank documents and vehicles following separate raids on his residence in Kendrapara district and other places.

As many as six cheque books and one passbook were seized from Tito’s residence at Dilarpur. A total of 17 tippers, a trailer and eight excavators were also recovered from the backyard of Benazir Infrastructure Private Limited, belonging to the gangster.

Besides, a total of 13 files, documents and three CPUs were seized from M/S Sumbul traders owned by Tito while one CPU, a hard disk, one CCTV DVR and two mobile phones were recovered from the house of Tito’s brother, Sappo.

The raid was conducted under the supervision of STF DIG Himanshu Lal with the support of STF SP Satyajeet Nayak and Kendrapara SP Niti Shekhar.

An associate of Tito, identified as Khirod Kar, was picked up from his residence at Sanamangala area in Kendrapara district by Crime Branch sleuths.

Another associate of the gangster, Niranjan Sahoo was also arrested.

Crime Branch officials conducted simultaneous raids on Tito’s residence at Dilarpur, his office located on Bypass Road, bike showroom at Pattamundai of Kendrapara district and his petrol pumps in Kendrapara and Paradip on Friday afternoon.

The STF had taken Tito on a five-day remand on June 4.

The Crime Branch had appealed for a 10-day remand of the gangster. However, the Kendrapara Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court gave permission for a remand of five days.
