Heatwave Spares Coastal Belt, Torments Interior Odisha

Bhubaneswar: While temperature came down appreciably in the entire coastal belt of Odisha, there was no respite for people residing in the interior region with mercury shooting up to 40 degree Celsius and above in five places.

Of the five places, Titlagarh emerged as the hottest at 42.5 degree Celsius followed by Sonepur (42.4), Balangir (42) and Bhawanipatna (40.5)

Even though temperature came down in the coastal pockets, acute humidity made life miserable for people.

As per the forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), temperature in most parts of the state would come down further in the next seven days as formation of a trough line across the state would trigger rain and thundershowers.
