Heavy Rain To Lash Odisha From July 5: Met

Bhubaneswar: Most parts of Odisha are likely to experience heavy rainfall from July 5, the regional meteorological centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Tuesday.
According to a Met bulletin, heavy to very heavy rainfall is most likely to occur in southern parts of the state under the influence of a depression formed over west-central Bay of Bengal.
The amount of rainfall is expected to increase from July 6.
Fishermen have been advised to remain cautious while venturing into the sea as strong winds may prevail during this period.

The Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC) under SOA (Deemed to be University) had on Monday said that the intensity of rainfall is likely to increase in coastal and southern Odisha districts from July 6.

Director of CEC Dr. S C Sahu had attributed it to a trough from northeast to southwest along the state’s coast and a cyclonic circulation over northwest Bay of Bengal and the adjoining coastal Odisha.

The rainfall is likely to continue till July 10 after which the monsoon intensity is expected to escalate in northern Odisha and the coastal districts till July 13, he added.
