Hundreds Of Animals Sacrificed During Sulia Jatra In Odisha

Balangir: Hundreds of animals were sacrificed during the celebrated of Sulia Jatra on the premises of Sulia shrine at Khairaguda village in Balangir district on Tuesday.

Tribals belonging to Kandha community celebrated Sulia Jatra and sacrificed goats, ducks, sheep and pigeons amid blowing of various traditional instruments, defying the ban imposed by the district administration on animal sacrifice.
The ritual of animal sacrifice takes place on the second Tuesday of the month of Pausa every year.
As many as three platoons of police force were deployed near the shrine to prevent any untoward incident.
