Jagannath Express Train Escapes Major Mishap

Cuttack:  Timely detection of a fault in one of its bogies of Howrah-Puri Jagannath Express train by the railway staff helped avert a major accident late on Monday night.
Sources said the railway staff found fault in S-6 of the train while it was on its way to Cuttack.
On being informed about the fault, the train was immediately stopped around 2 am. The railway technical staff found that the aluminium plate of the trolley spring of the bogie had slipped. The railway authorities, who were informed about the technical snag, did not allow the train to proceed.

The train later arrived in Cuttack railway station with 14 bogies around 5 am after the affected bogie was detached.

Following the incident, train services on the route was partially affected. The railway authorities have made temporary arrangements by allowing the trains to pass through the single line.

Meanwhile, replacement of the faulty trolley spring of the S-6 bogie is underway on a war-footing, the sources said.

The railway authorities said efforts are on to restore normal train service on this route.
