Justice Pramath Patnaik Takes Oath As Orissa HC Judge

Cuttack: Justice Pramath Patnaik on Friday took oath as Judge of the Orissa High Court at a function here.

Justice Patnaik was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Chief Justice of the High Court KS Jhaveri.

Justice Patnaik was recently transferred to Orissa High Court from Jharkhand High Court, where he had been serving as a judge since December 2014.

Before being transferred to Jharkhand HC, he was elevated to Additional Judge of the Orissa High Court on September 24, 2014.

In November 2018, a representation was made by Justice Patnaik before the Supreme Court Collegium, requesting a re-transfer to his parent High Court.

The Collegium, comprising Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice A K Sikri, Justice S A Bobde, Justice N V Ramana and Justice Arun Mishra, had in January accepted the request ‘in the interest of better administration of justice’.

The notification issued by Union Law Ministry said, “The President, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, is pleased to transfer Justice Pramath Patnaik, Judge of the Jharkhand High Court, as a Judge of the Orissa High Court.”

Justice Patnaik was directed to assume charge of his office in the Orissa High Court on or before February 13.
