Low Pressure To Trigger Heavy Rainfall In North Odisha From July 21

Bhubaneswar: The regional meteorological centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday predicted heavy rainfall, especially in northern parts of Odisha, from July 21.

According to a bulletin Met issued in this regard, a low pressure is likely to be formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal on July 21. It is expected to turn into a depression on July 22. Under its influence, most parts of the state are likely to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall till July 23.

As the sea condition would remain rough during this period, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the deep waters.

Barring a few places, most parts of the state witnessed dry weather conditions in the last 24 hours.

Revenue and Disaster Minister Maheswar Mohanty had on Tuesday asked the district collectors to remain alert in view of a possible flood-like situation in the state.

Meanwhile, in a release on Thursday, the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, in a release has sounded thundershower alert in Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Puri, Cuttack, Khurda, Nayagarh, Bhadrak, Kendrapara And Jagatsinghpur Districts and advised people to stay indoor till 5.45 pm
