Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda acquitted in two cases

Rayagada: The Rayagada District and Sessions Judge Court on Wednesday acquitted Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda in two murder cases for lack of evidence.
On July 7 in 2011, former sarpanch Kailash Majhi and another Sashi Majhi were burnt alive by Maoists at Kajangmadi under Kashipur police limits of the district. Sashi Majhi’s wife and the other villager were produced in the court to identify the killers. However, they failed to identify Sabyasachi among the killers.
So far, the Maoist leader has been acquitted in 13 cases. He is being tried in five cases at Rayagada court. After being acquitted in two cases, three more remain.
As many as 134 cases are pending against Sabyasachi in different police stations across the state.
