Bhubaneswar: There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall over north Odisha and adjoining districts from August 5 due to the merger of two low pressure systems, which could continue till August 7, said S.C. Sahu, Director of Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC), SOA Deemed to be University.
A feeble low pressure area has developed over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal plains of West Bengal and Odisha with the cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level.
Meanwhile, another depression has formed over South China Sea, which is taking the shape of a tropical cyclone. The easterly/southeasterly wind flow is feeble over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of West Bengal and Odisha.
This could trigger light to moderate rainfall with heavy rainfall in one or two locations in north and coastal Odisha from August 3, Sahu said.
