Odisha Budget: Govt Allocates Rs 4,265 Cr For Improvement Of Roads

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government, on Friday, allocated as sum of Rs 4, 265 crore for improvement of 1175 kms of roads, construction of 40 bridges and five railway over-bridges in the annual state budget 2018-19.

Presenting the budget worth Rs 1, 02, 028 crore in Odisha Assembly, finance minister Sashi Bhusan Behera said, “An amount of Rs 2, 990 crore has been proposed for development of roads in rural areas under Pradhan Mantri Sadak Yojana, while an allocation of Rs 22, 684 crore has been made for development of SCs and STs.”

Stating that an outlay of Rs 365 crore has been proposed for establishment of two more medical colleges and hospitals in Balasore and Balangir districts, the minister highlighted that an amount of Rs 700 crore has been allocated for Mukhya Mantri Swasthya Seva Mission and Rs 1, 370 crore for providing ambulance and healthcare facilities in the state under National Health Mission (NHM).

Similarly, a sum of Rs 250 crore has been proposed for setting up of 30 more Odisha Adarsh Vidyalayas while Rs 1, 800 has been allocated for Sarba Sikshya Abhiyan.
