Odisha Govt Announces Sops For Anganwadi Workers, Helpers

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Saturday announced a host of financial benefits for anganwadi workers. The announcement was made by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

According to the announcement, the monthly honorarium of Anganwadi workers has been increased to Rs 7500 from Rs 6000. Besides, the monthly honorarium of the mini Anganwadi workers has been increased to Rs 4125 from Rs 5375. Anganwadi helpers will now get a revised monthly wage of Rs 3750 as against Rs 3000.

These workers will get the revised honorarium which will come into effect retrospectively from October 1, 2018.

The state government has also decided to increase the exit period of the Anganwadi workers, mini Anganwadi workers and Anganwadi helpers from 60 to 62 years and give them a lump sum incentive of Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively at the time of exit at the age of 62.

Apart from this, the state government has decided to grant them an annual vacation 15 days during peak summer.

With regard to the promotional aspects, the state government has decided to fill up 50 per cent posts of anganwadi supervisors from amongst the anganwadi workers. This will benefit 72,500 anganwadi workers and an equal number of anganwadi helpers.
