Odisha Police Busts Gang Of 16 Dreaded Dacoits In Rayagada

Rayagada: In a major crackdown, Odisha Police succeeded in busting a gang of 16 dreaded dacoits in Rayagada district.

A Bolero vehicle, seven motorcycles, nine mobile phones, a country-made pistol, a number of choppers, knives, crowbars, iron rods, hammers, screw drivers and towels used as masks were recovered from the criminals. Apart from this, 20 grams of gold was also recovered from their possession.

Acting on a tip-off that a group of 11 dacoits had gathered at Masuripadara ground at Tikiri for plotting a dacoity in the house of one Pabitra Naik on the midnight of August 2, a police team raided the area and nabbed the criminals.

During interrogation, the accused confessed that they had committed burglary at branches of the State Bank of India (SBI) at Sunger and Gadiseskhal recently, but failed to loot cash.

On July 7, a gang of six persons had forcibly opened the door of a person’s house at Podapadi and snatched jewellery weighing 30 grams from his wife and later sold it to another person, T Murali of Kumutalpeta under Chandili police in the district. However, three members of the dacoit gang are still at large, informed Rayagada SP Rahul PR.
