Ollywood Actor Kuna Tripathy Appointed OFDC Chairperson

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Thursday appointed well-known Ollywood actor Kuna Tripathy as the chairperson of the Odisha Film Development Corporation (OFDC).

Tripathy will replace his predecessor Munna Khan, who will continue to hold the post of chairman of the Odisha State Cashew Development Corporation Ltd.

Talking to mediapersons, Tripathy said his first and foremost duty would be renovation of the Kalinga Studio. “Besides, I will try my best for the development of the Odia cine industry. I will also see that the loans are provided to the Odia film producers,” he added.

To a question on whether he would quit the role of anchor of the popular and satiric tele-serial “News Fuse, after being appointed as the OFDC chairperson, he said as the state government has given him major responsibility, he has to devote most of the time to manage such enormous task. “I will run the show if I have the time for it,” he pointed out.

It may be mentioned that Tripathy was one of the Ollywood actors who had joined the Biju Janata Dal two years ago.

Though he had campaigned for his party in several elections, he was not offered any important post.

A versatile actor, Tripathy has earned immense popularity with the satirical show ‘News Fuse’ being aired on a regional channel since 2008.

Besides, the 50-year old actor has enacted in a telefilm ‘Sapan’ directed by Gour Ghose. He has also worked with the legendary actress and director Parbati Ghose as a script writer and assistant director.

An approved artiste of the All India Radio (AIR), Cuttack, Tripathy has proved his acting skills in films like ‘Bandhu’, ‘Mo Dil Kahe Ilu Ilu’. He has also played the role of a self-made Godman in ‘Rangeela Baba’, based on Sarathi Baba issue which was a runaway hit in 2015.

At present, he is playing one of the major characters in upcoming comical flick ‘4 Idiots’ along with Akash Das Nayak, Papu Pom Pom and Sabyasachi Mishra.
