Kendrapara: Elaborate security has been made for the counting of votes for the Patkura Assembly election in Odisha’s Kendrapara district on Wednesday.

Kendrapara collector Samarth Verma said the counting of votes will begin at Kendrapara Autonomous College at 8 am. “The counting will be held on 18 tables and the counting will end in 17 rounds. We expect the results to come up by 2 pm,” he added.

The collector said three-tier security arrangements have been made in the strong rooms where the EVMs are kept for the smooth counting of votes. Sufficient number of police and Central para-military forces have been deployed in and around the premises. Besides, CCTV cameras have been installed to keep watch against trespassers.

Also, there will be restricted entry through passes only for the polling officials, counting agents and media persons. The district administration has also clamped prohibitory order around the college premises.

Verma informed that a special lounge with all amenities has been set up for the media. A direct connection from the tabulation room to the lounge will be provided so that the media can get the results instantly, he said.
