Raja, a three day festival in Odisha, commenced on Thursday and is being celebrated with fervour by young girls in the state. The agrarian festival marks the advent of monsoon and celebrates womanhood. It symbolizes the menstrual cycle of Mother Earth and falls on the first day of Asadh month.
