Relevance Of Gandhian Journalism Discussed At PR Talk In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Mahatama Gandhi the journalist and the relevance of Gandhian journalism were discussed at a talk cum book release in the Odisha capital recently.

“Gandhi, the journalist pre-dated Gandhi the freedom fighter by at least two decades,” said Snehasis Sur, president of Kolkata Press Club during a ‘Public Relations Talk’ organised by Bhubaneswar Chapter of Public Relations Society of India (PRSI).

A book titled ‘Mahatma Gandhi, As a Journalist and Editor’ was also released on the ocassion.

Regional Director of Indian Institute of Mass Communication Eastern Region Campus Dr Mrinal Chatterjee and EVP & Group Head (CSR & Education) of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) Prashant Kumar Hota also spoke on in the theme of ‘Mahatma Gandhi as a Communicator’.

Edited by Dr Mrinal Chatterjee and Snehasis Sur, the book is an attempt to understand and appreciate the concept and process of journalism as practiced by Gandhi. “It also attempts to underline the relevance and necessity of Gandhian Journalism in the era of post truth,” said Dr Chatterjee.

Another book, ‘Window Seat’, a compilation of columns written by Dr Chatterjee, was also released on the occasion. Chairman of PRSI Bhubaneswar Chapter, Amar Jyoti Mahapatra presided over the programme.
