Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Five Districts Of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm accompanied with hail and gusty surface wind is likely to occur in five districts of Odisha on Wednesday, a bulletin issued by Regional Centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) here said.
The district likely to be affected are Kalahandi, Rayagada, Gajapati, Koraput and Kandhamal.
Latest doppler weather radar and satellite images indicated that thunderstorm accompanied by hail and gusty sufface wind speed reaching 50 to 60 kmph is expected to occur inin the districts till 4:45 pm, the bulletin added.
People at these places have been advised to stay in safer locations or indoors during this period.
As per a release by the local Met office in the evening on Wednesday, temperature went up to 40 degree Celsius and above at 13 places in Odisha with Balangir emerging as the hottest place at 44.5 degree Celsius followed by Sonepur (44), Hirakud (43.5), Titlagarh (43.5), Jharsuguda (43.4), Sambalpur (43.8), Talcher (43), Angul (41.1), Sundargarh (42), Bhawanipatna (41.7), Malkangiri (42.4), Dhenkanal (40.5) and Keonjhar (40).
Barring the twin cities of Cuttack (36.5) and Bhubaneswar (37.2), Chandbali (38.2) and Balasore (37.7), temperature remained under 35 degree Celsius in the remaining coastal areas.

Though temperature remained below 40 degree Celsius in the Odisha capital, intense humid conditions made the life miserable for the denizens.
