Tribals Stage ‘Rail Roko’ In Mayurbhanj

Mayurbhanj: Demanding inclusion of ‘Ho’ dialect in the eighth schedule of the Constitution, members of the ‘Ho Samaj’ on Wednesday staged ‘rail roko’ agitation at different railway stations, obstructing train traffic at Baripada, Bangiriposhi and Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district.

The agitators detained Tata-Rairangpur Passenger train for some time. Their three-point charter of demands include appointment of teachers and teaching subjects in the dialect from anganwadi to university.

Notably, ‘Ho’ language is the mother tongue of nearly 10 lakh tribals of Odisha and Jharkhand.
