Truckload Of Explosives Looted From Godown In Balangir

Balangir: Police is investigating into the sensational loot of explosives from a godown at Dunguripalli village under Belapada police station limits in Odisha’s Balangir district late on Friday night.

According to sources, 20-25 miscreants late on Friday night arrived at the godown in Dunguripali village owned by Bhagwandas Pradipnarayan. Then they beat up four employees and damaged the CCTV cameras. Later they fled the area in a mini truck inside the godown premises which was loaded with explosives.

Following information, Patnagarh SDPO and Belapada IIC rushed to the godown for an on-the-spot investigation.

Meanwhile, the mini truck was found inside a forest in Muribahal area in Balangir district on Saturday afternoon. But there were no explosives inside it.

When asked whether the explosives were looted by the Maoists, Balangir SP K Siva Subramani said there is no involvement of the Maoists in this incident. “Preliminary investigation has revealed that the miscreants who entered the godown premises had sticks in their hands. Can any Maoist come with a stick while looting explosives? This is the handiwork of some local thugs. We are investigating into the incident and are hopeful that the miscreants would be arrested very soon,” the SP added.
