Upper Air Trough Likely To Trigger Rain In Coastal Odisha

Bhubaneswar: An upper air trough lying between south-west and the north-west Bay of Bengal could support formation of cyclonic circulation or low pressure, triggering light to moderate rainfall along coastal Odisha on Tuesday, the Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC) of the SOA (Deemed to be University) said on Monday.
The upper air trough could cause light to moderate rainfall with the possibility of heavy rainfall at one or two places in the coastal districts during the day, the CEC Director, Dr Sarat Chandra Sahu

said. The districts likely to experience rain, include Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Dhenkanal, he said, adding heavy precipitation at one or two locations was possible in Balasore, Bhadrak and Mayurbhanj districts.

The districts of Puri, Khurda and Cuttack may also experience light rainfall with thunderstorm activity between Monday and Wednesday, Sahu said.
A former director of Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, Sahu said that the probability of an appreciable decrease in night temperature was high from November 4.
“Availability of moisture due to onshore wind (wind from the sea) towards the Odisha coast might not support a decrease in the night temperature till November 3,” he pointed out.
