CWG 2018: Weightlifters Add Two More Gold

Goal Coast: Keeping India’s head high, the weightlifters earned two more gold medal for the country, taking the total medal tally to six.

Sathish Sivalingam (77kg) and Venkat Rahul Ragala (85kg) win the gold. With this, India now have four gold, silver and a bronze and are fourth on a medal table.

In hockey, the men’s team drew 2-2 against Pakistan, courtesy a last second goal. India were leading for most of the match, until a penalty corner with seven minute to go for the final hooter, turned the game’s course.

In badminton, the Indians remained unbeaten and confirmed a semifinal berth. They will next face Singapore.

In boxing, L Sarita Devi (60kg) and Manoj Kumar (59kg) advanced to the quarterfinals along with Mohammed Hussamuddin (56kg).

In table tennis too, both the men’s and women’s table tennis teams entered the semifinals. However, in swimming, gymnastics and cycling India remained out of medal contention.
