Dengue Scare: More Cases Pour In From Kalahandi Village

Kalahandi: Dengue is spreading its wings in Ladugaon village under Koksara block of Kalahandi district with more cases pouring in with every passing day.

Altogether, 45 persons from the village have tested positive for the vector-borne disease till Monday. On the first day, 24 persons were found to be affected while another 21 tested positive for dengue the following day.

Most of the patients have been admitted to Visakhapatnam hospital.

According to official sources, a team of doctors has reached the village to take stock of the situation and is collecting the blood samples, which are being sent to Kalahandi and Balangir hospitals for the tests.

On August 8, the Health Department had collected the blood samples and sent to Bhawanipatna for the tests. Seven patients were admitted to Bhawanipatna district headquarters hospital, Kalahandi CDMO Saroj Tihadi had then informed.

They were identified as Nitesh Kumar, Deviswar Panigrahi, Menaka Panigrahi, Bantu Panigrahi, Harabati Nayak, Sagar Bag and Kai Panigrahi of the village.

Some patients are also undergoing treatment in Raipur, Hyderabad and Chhattisgarh.

“A team of doctors are constantly monitoring the situation in the village. Health workers have also started door-to-door campaign for creating awareness to prevent further spread of dengue,” said Tihadi.

Many people of the village are also suffering from malaria.
