Egg Hurled At Former Minister Damodar Rout In Cuttack’s Niali

Cuttack: Eggs were hurled at former Minister and Paradip MLA Damodar
Rout during a public meeting, which was held at Niali High School field in Cuttack district on Thursday.

However, the eggs could not touch the guests on the dais. The miscreants who hurled the eggs managed to flee from the spot.

Anganwadi workers also staged a protest in front of the dais with
placards in hand. More than 200 Anganwadi workers with placards which
read, “Swami Chhadi, Anganwadi” (quitting husbands, joining Anganwadis) held a peaceful procession near the meeting place. Some
people also opposed the meeting. The police controlled the situation.

A mega ‘Jan Samavesh’ on the role of Right to Information Act against
corrupt administration had been organised. Dr Damodar Rout, Congress leader Satyaprakash Nayak and senior journalist Rabi Das were present
in the meeting as guests.

The ex-minister is accused of saying that BJP spokesperson Lekhashree
Samantasinghar is a ‘Swami Chhadi, Anganwadi’ purportedly a derogatory
remarks against both the leader as well as the Anganwadi workers. Rout
had reportedly made the remark at a party function in Jajpur.
