Ganjam Private Bus Owners Oppose Relocation Of City Bus Terminal

Berhampur: Members of Ganjam district private bus owners’ association stopped plying of buses from Berhampur to other parts of the state from Sunday to protest against relocation of the city bus terminal to Haladiapadar.

Several passengers were seen returning disappointed from the bus stand, owing to non-availability of city buses.

“The district administration has decided to shift the bus terminal to Haladiapadar today. We demand that the decision should immediately be revoked as such move would affect the local business here. The passengers will also face a lot of difficulties, if the decision is implemented,” one of the protestors said.

The members of the association threatened to intensify the stir by joining hands with the local traders and public, if the authorities concerned fail to fulfil their demand at the earliest.

On Saturday, members of small traders’ association had gheraoed the residence of Berhampur MLA Ramesh Chandra Chyau Patnaik over the same issue.
