iPhone XS, XS MAX And XR With Dual-SIM Support Launched

Apple has finally unveiled the new iPhone series, and there are 3 models this time. The new phones are named iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR.

This is the first time Apple has launched a phone with dual-SIM support, a feature very popular in India and China. The prices in US have been revealed:

iPhone XR: 749 USD (Rs 54000 approx)

iPhone XS: 999 USD (Rs 70000 approx)

iPhone XS Max: 1,099 USD (Rs 77000 approx)

These prices are for the lowest storage options.

Here are the specs:

The iPhone XS comes with a 5.8 inch OLED HDR ‘Super Retina’ display. It has a pixel density of 458 ppi. The XS Max comes with a 6.5 inch similar display. Both the XS and XS Max have dual camera of 12MP with wide and telephoto lenses. The front camera is a 7MP unit which has depth of field support or ‘Bokeh’ effect which can be adjusted after a photo is taken in the Photos app.

Both the phones are powered by a new A12 Bionic chip and Apple claims that apps will have a 30 per cent faster launch time than the previous generation phones.

It will come in 64GB, 128GB and 512GB internal storage options.

The new iPhones have an IP68 water-resistance rating, which means they can withstand up to 30 minutes in two meters deep water.

The XS will last 30 minutes longer than the iPhone X and XS Max will last 1.5 hours longer, according to Apple. As usual, Apple hasn’t revealed the mAh capacity of the batteries used.

All three phones have Dual-SIM card support for the first time and will run iOS 12 out of box.

Apple claims the Face ID unlock will be faster this time and the screen is 3D touch pressure sensitive.

The cheaper iPhone XR will come with a 6.1-inch LCD screen with 1,792×828 resolution and 326ppi (Retina display). It has a aluminium body. The camera is a 12MP wide angle lens. It comes with 64GB, 128GB and 256GB internal memory options.

Apple claims the battery will last 1.5 hours longer than the iPhone 8 Plus.

The XR has an IP67 water resistance rating, lower than the XS and XS Max. It doesn’t get 3D touch. It will come in 6 six colors – blue, coral, yellow, white, black and project red.

The new iPhone series is expected to be available in India after September 28. Apple has also launched the new Apple Watch 4 which has a FDA-approved ECG monitoring system. It can take an ECG any time and the data recorded can be used to alert medical help in case of heart irregularities. It also has a 18-hour battery life and starts at 399 USD.
