Kunduli Probe Panel Team Meets Victim’s Family In Koraput

Koraput: A three-member team of the Commission of Inquiry, comprising public prosecutor Pravakar Patnaik and Secretary-cum-Registrar Hemant Biswal and led by Koraput District and Sessions Judge-cum-Commissioner Bidyut Kumar Mishra, on Sunday visited Musaguda, the native village of Kunduli ‘gangrape’ victim.

The 14-year-old Class IX girl was allegedly gang-raped by ‘four men in uniform’ inside the forest in Kunduli under Pottangi police limits in Odisha’s Koraput district.

“We went to Musaguda, the victim’s village and interacted with the family members. We also saw the spot where she had committed suicide. We also went to the four spots where the victim was allegedly gang-raped and the place where she had got down from the autorickshaw,” the public prosecutor told mediapersons after the visit.

He said the Commission will begin the process for recording the statement of the witnesses.

Notably, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on February 7 this year had announced formation of a court-monitored Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe alleged gangrape of the minor girl on October 10, 2017, and her subsequent suicide in her house at her native village Musaguda on January 22.
