Odia University To Come Up At Satyabadi In Puri

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will set up an Odia University at Satyabadi in Puri district.

A decision to this effect was taken at the first meeting of the Heritage Cabinet presided over by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat here on Friday.

Briefing mediapersons after the meeting, chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi said the state government will provide 25 acres of land in Satyabadi for the proposed university.

Apart from setting up an Odia University, the Heritage Cabinet took three important decisions.

“Odia Culture & Heritage Policy will be formed for preservation and proliferation of art, culture and classical Odia language. For the smooth and smart functioning of all the public libraries, a separate post of Director, Public Library, would be created,” Padhi added.

He further said that the Heritage Cabinet also decided to create a corpus fund to convert the Ananda Bhawan Museum and Learning Centre in Cuttack into a Trust.

It is worthwhile to mention here that the State Cabinet in a meeting in Puri on December 26 last year has decided to create the Department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture for preservation and propagation of the pristine culture and heritage of Odisha and the Odia language.
