The fashion event, often called the east coast equivalent of the Oscars is held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, on the first Monday of May where celebrities from all over the world shine on with their custom designed costumes. Priyanka wore a strapeless red Ralph Lauren gown, embellished with a medieval tiara and accessorised her outfit with golden and stone-studded rings and her hair coiffed and mid-parted. Creating her elegant dress and headgear, completely handcrafted with Swarovski crystals, took around 250 hours. Last year, she sported a bold look with a trench coat having a long train, also by Lauren. Last year’s outfit brought her many trolls and a lot of memes circulated on social media.

Priyanka Chopra has not just been dominating the international television scene but has been ruling the global fashion stage as well. The diva, who stole all the spotlight in an almost never-ending trench coat by Ralph Lauren at the Met Gala last year, went on to wear yet another captivating costume by the same designer for this year’s gala. The ‘Quantico’ hottie made all heads turn on the red carpet under the theme – Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination as she strutted in a burgundy velvet gown with a trail topped with a golden beaded hood that left the onlookers star struck. For the record, it took more than 250 hours of handwork to weave the beaded hood made of red Swarovski crystals and gold beading which the former Miss World chose to wear. Needless to say, she simply owned the night in the heavenly look. Meanwhile, her ‘Bajirao Mastani’ co-star Deepika Padukone also represented India at the gala in a red slit gown. #ifi #india #indianfilminformation #bollywood #hollywood #metgala #metgala2018 #goldenhood #goddess #priyankachopra

Deepika, on the other hand, looked smoking hot but failed to adhere to the theme. However, some of her fans also pointed out that ‘Sunday Best’ was a theme that suited her outfit well. She wore a red draped dress designed by Prabal Gurung. Scarlet heels  completed the look.

The 2018 Met Gala theme shows the influence of Catholicism on fashion and designers. This invitation-only event also marks the opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibition.
