Balangir: The four-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Odisha Crime Branch (CB) has made a major breakthrough in the sensational parcel gift blast case. The person who had sent the parcel bomb in a courier from Raipur, is an Odiya and well versed in Hindi.

The SIT was informed by the Patnagarh police that before sending the parcel bomb through the Skyking courier, the assailant had tried sending the parcel through another courier company in Raipur. But as the company staff expressed their inability to deliver the parcel at the designated address within 10 days, he sent the parcel through Skyking courier.

A two-member special team of the Crime Branch left for Raipur on Tuesday. The team, apart from investigating into the various angles, would also interrogate the Skyking staff.

It may be mentioned that on February 23, a newly-wed Soumya Sekhar Sahu and his grandmother were killed, while his wife Rimarani Sahu sustained serious bun injuries when a parcel gift exploded in their house at Bholanathpada of Bramhapura village under Patnagarh police limits in Balangir district.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had ordered a Crime Branch probe into the case following an appeal by Rimarani, who is currenty undergoing treatment at the plastic surgery ward of the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

Acting on the directive, the SIT had met Rimamani at the SCB Medical College  and on February 25, visited their residence in Boudh.
